Bridge

Bridge is an API allowing applications to integrate video clips related to any TV series, movie, actor or actress (also known as “Bridge Items”.) Examples of applications that have integrated Bridge can be seen here: http://wurl.com/bridge-samples/

For details on the Bridge Request and Response formats see the Bridge Asset reference page.

Bridge API queries may be formed using Wurl’s 'Query By Name' format (default) or by using one of the industry asset ID systems like EIDR, TMS or Rovi.

'Query By Name' allows an API request to be formed using the name of a Bridge Asset (e.g. a TV series name, a movie name, or a cast member’s name) in the :title parameter. Because some 3rd party ID systems contain non-standard names for Bridge Assets (TV series and movies), Wurl Bridge API services include a self-learning system that will respond to numerous un-official Bridge Asset titles with very high accuracy.

Using the Response

The following are possible uses of the elements that are in the Episode entity returned in a Bridge API response.

Play a related video clip

Retrieve the episode's playback property. The mediaUrl attribute will be the URL of a video. See the abbreviated Bridge response below for an example.

For more details see our Play a Video Guide

Display a thumbnail

An episode has a thumbnails property. Multiple thumbnails are provided in multiple aspect ratios. See the sample response below for an example.

No results

If you search for a Bridge Item and there are no videos available, the hit property will be zero. You should expect to handle the case when no videos are available. This is not the same as the Not Found response.

Not Found

When you receive a 404 HTTP Response from the Bridge API, that signals that the asset you are searching for does not exist in our system. This is different than when there are no videos available (see No Results).

If you feel that you should not be receiving a 404 response for a given Bridge Item, contact our support team.
